How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?

My normally calm and happy son (7 months old) will not stay still when I change his diaper. He screams and tries to get up. He has no medical problems or diaper rash. He is just hyper and doesn't want to stay still. Any advice? I have tried giving him toys to play with it doesn't work. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
give him something interesting that is NOT a toy... for some reason babies would rather have something other than a toy. give him keys or a remote. i usually just give my baby a wipe and he tears it up lol.

try different things.... there has got to be something to keep your little one interested. good luck =)How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?

Wait until they're older.... it gets much worse.

I change on the floor with my leg across my daughter's body. She hates it, but it is far less stressful for me.How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?

Good luck i usually have to chase my 1 1/2 year old and then give her a toy she really likes and hope it works so I can change her.How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
Make silly noises and faces while you're changing him. It is possible to distract a fussy baby while changing, but it's challenging at times. It takes practice. :PHow can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
Try playing with him, like patta cake. Anything that tells him you have his attention and at the same time gets his.How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
Sing silly songs and make funny faces.

Try taking a few toys out of the toy box and keeping the hid away, and make them exclusively for diaper changes, they should keep him more interested than toys he plays with more often. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
If you have the room hang a mobile above the changing table out of his reach or put something on the ceiling for him to look at. I've also heard giving them something to hold or look at helps.

Good luck! Babies love to move and having to stop all activity for a diaper change is not fun. You just have to make sure you have everything ready so the change is as fast as you can make it. I gave my daughter a tue of diaper cream to play with - fascinated her for some reason.

When they get to be about 18 months they start to run away from you for diaper changes and then the wrestling match really begins! LOlHow can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
OMG is there a way?!? just the age. Its gets better as they come to you with a diaper to say they need changing.

I do the funny faces and songs its funny for a while but they just want to enjoy their new found motor skills and get going. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
In my experience you either offer something different for him to play with only during diaper changes or you change your diaper changing strategy and work on you speed diapering techniques. ;)

My nearly 8 month old is extremely squirmy and restless when it comes to diaper changes. He just does not want to sit still. There's a whole world to explore and he doesn't have a spare moment for silly diapering business.

My daughter was the same way when she was a baby and I can remember my partner and I perfecting the art of mid-air diapering (one of us would hold her and entertain the top half while the other would clean and re-diaper the bottom half). With my son, I usually just tell him a story in a sing-song voice or get him to laugh at silly faces (whatever will distract him from the fact that he's sitting still and keep him trained on my attempts at entertainment) while cleaning him up and putting on a new diaper. This works fairly well until the putting on a new diaper part because by then he's onto my plan and figures he can just roll over and crawl off to do something more interesting. One thing I've started doing more often is making sure I've already got a clean diaper laid out under him before I take the soiled one off. It makes diaper changing faster.

Hope that helps. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
Well i dont think you can. The only way to solve this is to divert his attention. Give him something to play. Usually something he doesnt come into contact with like a brightyl lit object.

Look next time give him your cellphone and watch him calm down as he gets intrigued by the illuminating display and keypad. Another time give him your mp3 player maybe even put the earphones on him and play you favorite song. chances are he will be more preoccupied by them and the noise they make.

Good luckHow can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
I think every child goe through that...they can't stand being made to lay still even for a minute and it is a battle to get a diaper on them! You just have to be quick as you can about it; nothing much really works getting them to stop moving around and squirming! How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
I'm a mom of 3, almost 4 (due 4/11/2008) and what has worked for all 3 of mine was to sing their favorite songs, making as much eye contact as possible. Most of all, the important thing is to try not to get frustrated, babies can sense the tension and get upset. Hope that helps! How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
My method was always to pin my daughter down cheerfully, gently, but very, very firmly, diaper as quickly as humanly possible and then set the little wild woman free to continue exploring. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
I talk to my baby. Try to make all sorts of funny faces and really engage his eyes so that he is not so focused on what is happening. I also tell him I am going to change him while being ethusiastic about how nice it will be to have a clean/dry bum. Maybe let him know that you can play or do something fun together after he is done. How can I keep my son still while changing his diaper?
