How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?

Ok I babysit a 1 and a half year old. And unfortunately she isn't potty-trained! And she never started going when I babysat her the first few times. And she now is like clockwork with me...ugh...but when I go to change her she won't let me put her down. And they don't have a changing table and I don't wanna do it on the carpet incase it gets on there...and the tile just scares me because she throws fits and I am afraid that she will like slam her head down on it. And I don't want to have to wrestle her down to change her. I told her dad and he said he has to fight with her to change her. But like what do I do? I have only changed ONE DIAPER IN MY WHOLE LIFE!How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
First of all why are you babysitting if you have only changed 1 diaper? Put a towel on the carpet. Give her something to play with that is unusual like a big spoon out of the kitchen or hand her her clean diaper to play with until you get her clean. Stay calm she can tell when you're anxious and sing works with my son.

Kids don't understand bribes. Oh and PS I don't know any 1 and 1/2 year olds that are potty trained. How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?

How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
Erm...most 1 and a half year olds aren't potty trained.

With our son, I put toys in front of him and changed him standing up.

With our baby, we put her on her back and hand her toys- only for diaper time. I also sing to her and play a game so she will sit still. Hand her a baby wipe and tell her to wash her hands with it.How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
aww haha well when i babysit i just lay the kid on the carpet but, of course, with a towel or dirty shirt under him/her so their crap wouldnt get on the crapet. if they dont want to just let them lie there and give them a toy or some fancy shiny thing to keep them occupied. i usually give them like my phone or something that lights. when theyre down, i just do it fast until they begin to realize that im changing them. THEN i pick them up like nothing happened hahaHow do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
make it as fun possible. Something that might work, when you take her pants off to change her diaper, gently place them over her face and when she has to use her hands to move them say something funny like Hello real silly or even the old peek a boo. it will keep her hands occupied and will make a little game of changing her diaper. Don't worry about putting the pants on her face. She is not going to suffocate with you standing right there, and if she gets upset, you can remove them. Another thing you can do is give her something she is not supposed to have like your cell phone or a remote. How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
try laying her down on carpet.play games with her,and when u work ur way changing diaper give her a reward. How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
You poor thing. My nephew does the same thing. Here is what I recommend doing. Change her either on the bed, couch or floor, but put a towel under her. Pick her up and lay her down. You may have to grab her around the waist and her legs to lay her down. If she twists roll her back onto her back. Have you diaper and washcloth or wipes laying out and ready before hand. hold your forearm across her torso to keep her on her back while opening the diaper to get it ready to put under her. Lift her little buttocks up by lifting her up at the ankles. Slide the diaper under her buttocks. If she straightens her legs and pushes against you go ahead and slide the diaper under her. Then lay her bottom back down and grab her where her legs and hips meet and bend her legs then pull the diaper up between her legs and fasten. Make sure you clean her well on her bottom and between her labia. Not too rough though. If she has a diaper rash I recommend using aquafore on it. It looks like vaseline, but her skin will be able to breathe. Then sprinkle powder on top of the aquafore but don't rub it in. If she has a manilla infection (which is a yeast infection on a baby) then I recommend using something with lotrimin in it. You can use Lotrimin AF cream not spray. Also now days the doctor can prescribe baby butt cream (it's really called this) that has lotrimin in it. Good luck and relax. The more you do it the faster and better you will become at it.How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
You can't reason with a 1 1/2 year old. So make a game out of it . They must have and old receiving blanket around lay her on that. How do I get her to let me change her diaper....?
Tap her skin on her leg and tell her to sit still. And if she cries she will be still while she screams.

  • How do I treat diaper rash?

Whenever I have a lot of booze, I wet the bed. Since I enjoy the drinking lifestyle, this is every night. To manage the problem, I started wearing adult diapers. Unfortunately, I'm getting rashes. I never had kids, and never changed diapers, so I don't know what to do about it. I figured this would be a good place to ask.How do I treat diaper rash?

My newborn son fusses so much whenever I change his diaper, how can I help distract him?

I ask becuase when I looked online it says to give them a toy but I didnt really think newborns played with toys so any help would be very much appreciated thanks? My newborn son fusses so much whenever I change his diaper, how can I help distract him?
I think a lot of babies go through this at the newborn stage, I know mine did :) it doesn't last for long though. I found that in talking to her the whole time I was changing her as well as singing songs it kept her just that little bit calmer and eventually she stopped. Now she loves change time and being sung to :)My newborn son fusses so much whenever I change his diaper, how can I help distract him?
At this age there isn't a whole lot you can give them except for a pacifier since they haven't figured out grasping yet. Try putting a mobile above his changing table. Before you change him lay out everything you need to change him, including getting the diaper ready so you can change him as fast as possible to keep the fussing to a minimum. My newborn son fusses so much whenever I change his diaper, how can I help distract him?
With my newborn I had the same issue. Remember your baby doesn't know anything at all at this stage so he may be naturally frightened. If you are using wipes that are cold that may frighten him as well. He is experiencing a change of environment/temperature. If you are calm they will soon learn that they are safe when you are caring for him in this way and be perfectly comfortable as mine has become. Perhaps you can teach your child to be more comfortable at this time by singing or keeping the him warm. The only that may instantly change his crying would be a bottle and i don't know if it would be a good idea to combine that with a changing. My newborn son fusses so much whenever I change his diaper, how can I help distract him?
My son is the same way.. he cries like I am killing him everytime i change his clothes or his diaper. What I started doing before I change his diaper or clothes is talk to him and try getting him to laugh.. He does sometimes and it actually works depending on what kind of mood he is.. So just try talking to him and everything while you do it..

    How to change diapers?

I am babysitting for the first time tomorrow and really have never babysat anyone that had to wear diapers but this little girl does. How do I do it?How to change diapers?
Lay them down on something that os waterproof. Make sure that if they are on a changing table that you NEVER take a hand off of them. Even the little ones can roll off. Get your wipes and your clean diaper ready ahead of time. Open the old diaper and see what you are looking at. Either way wipe well, and make sure to wipe front to back for feces. THen slide the clean diaper under their bottom with the velcro side up by their hips facing you, and swing up the front between their legs and attach. It is easy and pretty easy to figure out. Just be prepared for them to pee on you, and mdae sure they don't fall. I just change my kid's diapers on the floor so there is no risk of that, but everyone is different. How to change diapers?
first have the diaper and wipes ready. then but a towl or blanket down, lay the child on it and remove the dirty diaper, next wipe the private parts so they are clean and there is no rash later.and last put on the clean diaper and thow away the dirty diaper and clean up the mess!!! hope it helps and good luck!!How to change diapers?

How to stop the diaper change battle???

My 1.5 yr old hates to have his diaper changed.... it is an all out battle. I have tried toys to entertain him etc...

any suggestions? How to stop the diaper change battle???
He sounds ready to be a big boy now, try the toilet training now, sounds like he's giving you the cues you require!

If he's not, then do him standing up and use pull-ups.How to stop the diaper change battle???
At this age they are beginning to be old enough to understand reasoning. Try a small reward system. If you want to stick with the toy thing, try allocating specific toys (new) that are interesting to him but that are only allowed during diaper changes or maybe after he has been a good boy during a diaper change. Does he like walks? Maybe try %26quot;If you are a sweet boy today and don't fight me with diapers then we will go for a short walk later today%26quot; or something along those lines. How to stop the diaper change battle???
Quit trying to entertain him and just do it. Put your foot down, be the parent and let him know that it is time to change the diaper, and you are not budging. Be consistent and tell him no, he cannot act that way. You have to be stern and firm or he is going to continue this pattern of getting what he wants and before you know it, you'll have a kid who has no problem with backtalking you and acting out.How to stop the diaper change battle???
perhaps you could try to get him potty trained, give him that as the alternative to having his diaper changed... might just be that he's ready for it now.How to stop the diaper change battle???
that age can be tough, diapering wise. Have you considered using some sign language with your child? To sign 'diaper' you tap your four fingers to your thumb several times on both hands. To sign 'change' you make fists with both hands and tap them together at the knuckles, alternating sides. My daughter is 16 months and I have been using ASL for 8 months with her. When it's time to change her I saw %26quot;Let's change your diaper%26quot; and sign 'diaper.' They need to hear and see what you mean. Besides, how would you feel if someone grabbed you up from the floor where you were playing nicely and started taking off your pants!

Hope this helps! How to stop the diaper change battle???
try introducing the potty. tell him if he doesn't want to have his diaper change then he has to go like a big boy. and if he is not ready for the potty then you have to make him hold still while you change him.How to stop the diaper change battle???
Boys are always harder than girls to get them to hold still.

As a mom of 7 and the owner of a Day Care Center for several years I can speak with the utmost confidence. :-)

Not knowing your son's temperament or your's for that matter, it is difficult to suggest much, but you might try this.

    1. If you are using disposable diapers place the clean diaper out ready and then place your son in his dirty diaper on top. Quickly undo the dirty diaper and pull it from under him. With a wipe already standing by just wipe quickly and do up the clean diaper. This doesn't take more than 1 min. to do.

    2. Before you get your son on the changing table for a diaper change, start singing a song that he can repeat back to you.

    Something like, %26quot;A is for apple all shiny and red%26quot;

Have him say %26quot;A, apple%26quot; Then sing it again. Anything that will take his attention away from where the diaper is usually works.

    3. If you find something that does work tell your son that if he holds really still for at least a minute that you will give him a toy. Not a new toy just one that you have hidden for the past two weeks and he has forgotten about or give him a book with lots of pictures that he likes to look at.

The key word here is QUICK, if necessary practice on diapering and un-diapering until you have it down so that all you need will be about 1 min and the deed is done. How to stop the diaper change battle???
Well, be quick about it, don't give in and make it a game. Try the pull ups now because he is getting to the potty age. Sometimes the switch from warm diapers to cool pants when he wets, can make changing more desirable instead of sitting in cold pants. How to stop the diaper change battle???
My 18 month old is the same way, you just have to be patient with them and try talking to them and they will grow out of it. If the problem is worse (like a rash or something) try to be extra gentle. Also involve them in the process which should help with changing and potty training. Something like handing you the wipes or opening up the new diaper. How to stop the diaper change battle???
When she poops, I tell her that she pooped and she needs clean. I show her the wipe with the poop on it (gross, I know, but it makes her see that I am not just making her lay there for no reason). when she is done and diapered, we go to the toilet together and flush the poop. this helps her some.

When she is just wet, I just drop and change her wherever she is. I grab diapers from the diaper bag or run to her room and get one and just change her wherever she already is. She gets less annoyed this way because she does not have to completely stop playing. She just has to pause for quick change and then goes righ tback to what she was doing.

She HATES public changing tables (she is oddly terrified of them, I think it is the bathroom lights look like the hospital lights) so we use pull-ups when we are out, even though we are no where near potty training. I stand her against the wall (so she can hold on if need be). take off her pants and step her into the pull-up. I pull it up to her knees, then remove the old diaper/pull-up, wipe her, then pull up her pull-up. she is SO much more content to have this done when we are out and about and she never makes a fuss.

Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?

my 8 month old son just got into the habit that every time i change him he freaks out [underline freak out] like theres a nail or a pin going through hs back, where basically his whole back is in a %26quot;backbridge%26quot; and trys to roll over...etc..etc is this normal, and how can i restrain him so i dont hurt him.... restrain him as so i can actually change his diaper without a fight!Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
Unfortunately its normal...He doesnt want to stop to have his diaper changed.

Our son does this too but he laughs at us the whole time like its a big joke while hes heaving himself to and fro to get away from us... Ive just gotten in the habit of either giving him a toy or if hes really on a rampage i put my calf across his tummy to hold him in place...He hates it but i get his diaper on.Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
My daughter does this too. I'm not always in a position (or have the patience) to do this, but my mom told me to try and put her in the diaper in a sitting position. You have to lay them down to take the diaper off and clean them, but she always freaks when I have to put the diaper on.

So sometimes I open a diaper and have her sit in it. Like I said, it takes some dexterity, but it's worked a few times.Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
Have you tried a toy or something he usually doesn't get to see/play with? This worked with our son when he was in that defient age(right around 8 months too but he did %26quot;grow%26quot; out of it!).

We had a little blue rubber duck that we gave to him while changing his diaper and it stayed up in his room so he didn't see it all day long. It worked out great because every time it was like a new toy.

Also try to ignore him as much as possible when he's doing this. Ensure his safety and ignore his antics. Even babies at that age can feed off the attention you're giving them. So if you're making a big fuss or even laughing he will see that and continue what he's doing.Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
My son started this at this age and hasn't stopped yet - he is 26 months now. It is just at some point they realize they have a will and they don't HAVE to comply easily.

I pull out all the stops - I have gadgets ( kitchen timer, calculator, cell phone) that can give me the minute I need. I sing exaggerated silly songs or I excitedly say LISTEN!! IS THAT AN AIRPLANE!???? Or anything just to him to have a passing thought that will freeze him for a moment. And then of course, you master the art of the fastest diaper change ever.

Sometimes it helps to lay them on a different surface. If the ceiling fan is going in the family room, I take him in there and say, look at that fan!! Or I might try when it is his TV time - he can lay on the floor and watch.

Sometimes you need to get creative.Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
    Yeah, that's normal!

You can restrain him any way you can, you won't hurt him. Diaper changes were heck when my twins were that age.Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?
my son just got over that! it drove me nuts!! i found giving hima toy and singing him silly songs got him through it, but i had to change him as fast as i possibly could!Screaming and Crying just to change his diaper?

You can get around this frustrating state of affairs by changing your approach. Let’s look at two situations – first the typical (Titanic) way:

Parent: David! Time to change your diaper.

David: No! (As he runs off)

Parent: Come on honey. It’s time to leave, I need to change you.

David: (Giggles and hides behind sofa)

Parent: David, this isn’t funny. It’s getting late. Come here.

David: (Doesn’t hear a word. Sits down to do a puzzle.)

Parent: Come here! (Gets up and approaches David)

    David: (Giggles and runs)

Parent: (Picking up David) Now lie here. Stop squirming! Lie still. Will you stop this! (As parent turns to pick up a new diaper, a little bare bottom is running away)

I’m sure you’ve all been there. By the way, David is my son. Like you, I got very tired of this. And then I discovered a better way:

Parent: (Picking up diaper and holding it like a puppet, making it talk in a silly, squeaky voice) Hi David! I’m Dilly Diaper! Come here and play with me!

David: (Running over to Diaper) Hi Dilly!

Parent as Diaper: You’re such a nice boy. Will you give me a kiss?

David: Yes. (Gives diaper a kiss)

Parent as Diaper: How ‘bout a nice hug?

    David: (Giggles and hugs Diaper)

Parent as Diaper: Lie right here next to me. Right here. Yup. Can I go on you? Oh yes?! Goody goody goody! (The diaper chats with David while he’s being changed. Then it says, Oh, David! Listen, I hear your shoes calling you – David! David!

The most amazing thing about this trick is that it works over and over and over and over. You’ll keep thinking, “He’s not honestly going to fall for this again?” But he will! Probably the nicest by-product of this method is that it gets you in a good mood and you have a little fun time with your child.

When you’ve got a toddler this technique is a pure lifesaver. When my son David was little I used this all the time. (I now use it with my youngest child, Coleton, who just turned two!) Remembering back to one day, when David was almost three, we were waiting in a long line at the grocery store and I was making my hand talk to him. He was hugging my hand and looked up at me and said, “Mommy, I love for you to pretend this hand is talking.”

My 10 month old won't stay still, and she throws in a big tantrum when I try to put her pj's on or change her diaper... Don't listen to Franki. You don't discipline a 10 month old baby for moving! That's ridiculous. Of course a 10 month old baby wants to move, and that's normal, and NOT something that should be punished.

Something you can do is give the baby a toy to play with while changing. You could try singing songs. Try to make changing time a pleasant experience. Always associate positive things with changing, whether it's a cute song or a toy or a backrub or a kiss or a hug, etc. Give rewards for good behavior, but at 10 months, do NOT punish for unwanted behavior. How do you change your baby%26039;s diaper or change their clothes when they start to move around SO MUCH!?

A perfect time to reinforce NO with a smart smack on one chubby butt cheek.. and yes this is the time.. Now when you have her attention... try singing a few nursery rhymes to her.. this will help her know that NO means business and diaper changing means singing time and smiles and laughing and getting cleaned up.. Talking and singing to baby will divert her attention and help you get thru with this faster. When she can walk, let her carry the diaper to the changing area. Maybe try giving her a toy to hold or a musical toy to sing along with. and this is where discipline begins!

it does not matter you will not listen anyway but the only 2 people that realize dicipline starts very early are the only 2 people that are not having this problem. all the people that said you do not discilpline a 10 month old are the very same people that will or do get on here and ask why their child is out of control. so thumbs down all you want. i have 2 teenagers and have never had any problems with my children acting up, throwing tantrums, fighting me for whatever reason and that is exactly what she is doing. there is no reason why a 10 month old cannot lay reasonably still for 5 minutes during a diaper change. as long as you let her control the situation she will control other situations and you will always be at wits end. people pamper kids way to much and need to realize that there is a time and a place for all things.

He is simply exploring his body. As an infant he probally did the same thing with his hands and feet, now he has that mastered he is moving on to something else. He has no idea what a %26quot;private part%26quot; is he has no idea what privacy is. Sounds like he is right on track with his development. My question would be this: why do you think he shouldnt touch his private parts?

    I took a Human Sexuality class in college and my son was around that age at the time. I remember asking my professor about it and I'll never forget her answer -- she said, %26quot;Well, he's exploring his body, and also, it feels good when he touches himself down there; not in a sexual way, of course, but your private areas are full of nerve endings. It feels nice to touch there. There's no reason he shouldnt enjoy doing it.%26quot;

My son used to sit on the couch with his hand in his pants. I just always casually told him %26quot;that's something you should do when you are alone.%26quot; I had to tell him quite a few times but after a while he got the idea.

I guess the bottom line is that you dont want him to feel ashamed or feel as if he is doing anything wrong. You want him to grow up to be comfortable with his body.

Hope this helps! How can i get my 2 yo brother to stop playing with himself when i give him a bath or change his diaper?

There's really nothing you can do to stop him from doing this. Kids do this for the same reason they put their fingers in their nose...because they can and because it's there. If it makes you uncomfortable, try redirecting his attention with a toy or a song with hand movements like Itsy Bitsy Spider, Little Bunny Foo Foo, or I'm a Little Teapot.

How to change a diaper with one hand (disabled person)?

I'm a hemorrhaged brain aneurysm survivor. We just discovered we are going to have a baby. I was hoping for any advice, devices, etc, that may be out here.

ThanksHow to change a diaper with one hand (disabled person)?
the trick is to occupy baby, when they are little you can do it one handed , one side then the other, when they are older its a little harder for a two handed person, but i imagine you will cope perfectly well. Occupy the baby with a toy or som, ething so he/she arent trying to roll away or wriggle. I think it would be interesting for you, but certainly not impossible. You could use a foot to help the other side...that sounds odd, but i saw a woman on tv who has no arms at all and does everything with her feet, cooking, looking after kids and driving...so i think you'll be fine...congratulations!How to change a diaper with one hand (disabled person)?
You should be able to find some sort of specialized changing station. Maybe not necessary though cause it ain't that hard

How do I change a diaper?

I took the day off from work and my wife ran out to go shopping. She left me at home here with our two children who are still in diapers. Problem is that in my 35 years I have never even touched a diaper (my wife stays home and takes care of the kids). Now they need a change and stink. What do I do???? Help!!!!!How do I change a diaper?
I think the easiest way is to make sure you have everything you need nearby (wipes, ointment if they have a diaper rash, etc). I put the clean diaper underneath the dirty diaper before opening in case the baby isn't finished yet. Then open the diaper (and be careful if you have a boy as he might shoot you when he feels the air lol) and hold the baby's legs up and wipe him/her clean and fold the dirty wipe in the dirty diaper. Then just take away the dirty one and close the clean one.

*Also, I usually keep an extra diaper at hand in case baby decides to let loose again after I take away the dirty one.How do I change a diaper?

you take the diaper off, set it to the side. hold their ankles so their butt doesnt touch the floor. wipe their butt an their junk. use enough baby wipes til its all gone and clean. put baby powder on them if you want to keep them dry and so they dont get a rash. if they arlready have a rash, put desiton on it, or let them get some air. goodluck

Lay the baby down. If he's up high on a changing table don't leave him for a second, so get wipes and a fresh diaper ready first. Hold the baby's legs in the air and undo the diaper (clasps up front). Wipe the baby down making sure to get everywhere. Put the back part of the fresh diaper under his back (kinda high up on the low back) and the fasten in the front. Congratulations, you just changed a baby. How do u change a baby%26039;s diaper?

How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?

My daughter squirms away from me as soon as I take the diaper off...any tricks you recommend to keep her still? I've tried giving her toys to play with and it only helps some of the time. Changing a diaper has become a two-person job!How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
This is a new game for her. All the babies I have encountered have gone through this stage. Take it easy and play her little game. Let her %26quot;run%26quot; away and make a game out of %26quot;catching%26quot; her. Do this once or twice on each diaper change then say %26quot; Okay, time to redress%26quot; and lay her back down for the new diaper. Do this for every diaper change that she squirms away. She will enjoy the ineractions and soon settle down. Soon this will stop and you will be back to regular changes.

She found out she can squirm and roll to keep you from re-diapering her. Your frustration fuels the need to keep doing it.

Another option is to NOT react to her squirming, just roll her back over and place the diaper on... screaming %26amp; crying may occur, but ignore these as well. As long as she doesn't get a response, she will soon give up her game.

Babies and toddlers will do things that will frustrate you to get a response from you, whether it is a negative or positive response. Acting as though you could care less rather she squirm or not, will defuse her attempts for a response.

This action usually means that your child is not getting enough attention from you or dad. Try to play with her more, talking to her more, holding her more. Just because you may be with her 24/7 doesn't mean you are giving her the attention she craves 24/7.

I am a stay at home mom and my children act up when they feel I haven't (or dad) given the enough attention. Spending one-on-one time with her at regular intervals will satisfy those cravings for attention and her diaper changes will settle back down. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?

Some changing tables have a seatbelt on them, just like the public ones.

You could try making your own too. Get a thick kid-size belt and superglude the middle of it to the changing table. Instant seat belt and the kid can't escape.

At least, that's what worked for my brother. Except we glued the belt to the closet wall, but whatever...How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?

If there were a way they'd already have a book about it!

Try to have something over head to get her attention. Other than that: make sure you have the diaper open, the wipe out of the case and that you're ready to go before you lay her down.

You have to be an octopus!! LOLHow do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
Get a couple of cheap toys that you give her JUST at diaper-changing time---the novelty will be enough to keep her distracted and not want to roll over.

Best wishes:)How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
I've babysat since 10 and have 2 of my own and after all those experiences, I just had to learn to change them faster. And the baby enjoys not having something wet near their bottom, and I don't blame them much. lol. Also, to her it has now become kind of a game to her, so keep her occupied by talking to her and get her attention, then change it as fast as you can. Sorry, wish I could be more help. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
try this put the changing pad on your lap and put your feet on something that will raise it so your knees are up then when your changing the child hes/she can't roll over. Good lucky

also if the room is cold try getting a portable heater and keep the room at about 75 degrees so when you change them they dont get cold. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
What helped with my daughter is giving her a extra clean diaper to occupy her, then change the diaper as fast as I can. No more than a minute or two.How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
haha...you don't. I get the used diaper off first, wipe, lay out the fresh diaper, set her on it and put the palm of my hand on her tummy, firm but not enough to hurt, and get the diaper on with my other hand. Blowing Rasberry's on her tummy works too. She gets to crackin up and forgets to try to get away. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
Give your baby something small to hold and play with while you change her. Make sure you only give this special toy to her when it's changing time. It won't stop the rolling over, but it may give you more time. You have to be quick!! Also talk to her, sing to her, put something interesting to look at over the changing area. A poster of something bright on the ceiling. Good luck. Have fun!! I just love babies...and remember before you know it...she will be potty trained...they grow so fast...years fly by!!How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
Make a game of it. Kiss her face and play peek a boo. That is what she is doing when she rolls over. It is a game and it is fun. Just change the fun. Do not scold or pin her down as others have suggested. She is just a baby. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
Change her on the floor. Then, if you have to, you can hold her down with your leg *lightly* over her belly while you chanage her bottom. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
I don't have any babies but, my sister had the same problem and she just gave him a bottle or some kind of toy that made noise or changed colors. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
This is what they do! Make sure you are not using a changing table because she could get away, roll off into the floor! Change her on the floor! Good Luck! How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
I've had this problem with a few kids, before long the parents are asking me what I did to get them to lay still! I just keep telling them, no you need to lay still and give them new things to play with. Buy a %26quot;diaper changing toy%26quot; that they can only play with when being changed.

One thing I have also gotten really good at is changing them standing up (only if they are wet,no bm and they can stand on their own).

Now with my own children, I've been known to put one leg under my leg and the other leg under my other leg to get them to lay still. I've also tapped their bottom so they think they are getting spanked even though I know it didn't really hurt them. They eventually will grow out of it! Good luck! How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
Put stickers on her arms and hands. While she is busy pulling them off, change the diaper. You will have to be quick, as she will be.How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
I distract my son with goofy faces and a good attitude. works great. How do I get my 8.5 month old baby to stop rolling over when I change her diaper?
What worked with my two boys was to give them something that wasn't really a toy, but wouldn't hurt them if they played with it. Something they've never seen before...a hairbrush, the tube of diaper rash cream (but don't let her open it!), a diaper...basically anything new or different to her. It should hold her attention long enough for you to change her.

7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?

how do i get him to sit still? I have tried giving him toys and that has seemed to stop working.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
Hiiii hunter's mommy i think almost everyone made good suggestions you should try them see which one works for you and baby. If not you can buy him a new toy very little toy that he can hold and only give him that toy when you're changing him in that way he's not use to playing with it but when he does see it, it's like a new toy for him should keep him busy so you can wipe his little bum lol after you're finish changing him take it away. if this work it wil only work for a while then you can keep trying new strategies good luck!7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
Uhm this is going to sound stupid but my daughter's father will make animal sounds and for some reason my daughter loves it, specially the piggy sounds. Sometimes I have to tell her no in a fern voice though.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
Because he is more aware of his mobility now-you might not be able too..My two 6 month olds will not sit still either..I've tried toys-doesn't work so much anymore..What I do-this may sound silly-but since they are babies-thats ok- When they are ready for a change, I put them down then I start singing loudly and making funny noises. This usually gets their attention long enough to be able to change them..And it entertains them as well :)7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
Haha there's not much you can do. This will last until your son is out of diapers, trust me.

If your baby is standing with support, try changing him while he's standing up. If he's not walking with support yet, it makes it even easier.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
LMAO ROFL. this your first kid? we all have done it, its just one of those things. learn how to put that diaper on in motion. you'd be suprised at the skills you learn as a mom. my son is 10mo old and does the same thing. my daughters are 4 %26amp; 6 and sometimes I have to wrestle them just to get panties on them after the bath. lol, just turn it into a game and you will be much happier!

That's so cute! You have a cute baby I am sure.

Do you have an area where you change him? I think you should have it all set up first as the area...I had changing table.

That way you can get it done faster.

Have things ready to give him while you are doing this.

Things that are shiny and make noise always do the trick.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
What i think is dat ur baby is very playful and he doesn't have time to sit still for a diaper change.

What i would do is,anytime he moves just shout a loud and sharp NO, if he does dis again keep repeating NO, so he will just know that it is not rite to move when he is having a diaper change.

Hope this helps7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
I have the same problem with my 6 month old. When I put her down for a diaper change, I just make sure to talk to her so she looks at me while I'm doing it. This only works half the time, so the rest of the time, I just move her back into position and work fast!7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
My son is 9 months and he's been doing the same thing. I haven't found anything that fully works yet. But sometimes making funny faces at him and singing to him can help. Hope it gets better...for us both...lol.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
My son likes to put his feet in his mouth during a diaper change, which can make the whole process take a really long time. I usually distract him by singing or make funny faces and then slap the diaper on really quick.7 month old will not sit still for diaper change?
talk to him...tickle him....sing silly songs (that's what i do with my cousin and niece)

if that doesn't work just tell him to be still..be firm not mean....

but as for my experience i really think talking with them silly works best...even dancing

most little kids don't like silence especially when they are being forced to sit still.

    Hope this works!

How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?

my baby is 7 months old and cannot stay still on his changer. he flips to his tummy and gets in his crawl position and tries to escape. i try and hold him down on his back but he fights me and he is strong so he normally manages to flip. its very hard to change his clothes and diaper now. anyone else? How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
My changing pad comes with a little strap and buckle attached to it. For the first 6 months of my daughter's life, I thought, %26quot;what on earth is that trap for?%26quot; And then she started acting just like your son does. And I thought %26quot;aha!%26quot; I strapped her in and that was the only way to keep her still enough to change her diaper. Don't worry, he'll calm down pretty soon. How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
Switch to changing on the floor, it's not safe on the changer anymore. When you are on the floor you can lay your legs gently over him to keep him in place, it may not keep him still though. Mine never did get any easier, he's 16 months old.How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
change him on the floor or big bed so then it is safer then a small space he can fall off of. ALso try giving him a toy to play with while changing him to preoccupy himHow do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
I had that problem too. We only change on the floor. We gave our daughter toys that entertained her, even a wipe for her to play with, for some reason she really liked that. When all else failed I chased her around and put it on her as she was crawling, standing or sat her on top of it and strapped it on lol. All the while hoping she didn't pee on the floor. The good news is she pretty much grew out of that stage now, shes 10 months. How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
give him something safe that isn't a toy, like a spoon or something that will hold his interest. I even give my little one another diaper to play with. it usually keeps their attention since they dont play with those things. my lil one is 13 months and i still do it. i use my wallet sometimes..lol. make sure it is safe though!!!How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
Ahh, the memories...I found that if I grab both feet with one hand and lift them back towards his head making him bend in half he was less likely to twist if he was %26quot;folded%26quot;. It takes practice. Toys or something to occupy them works great until they learn to throw it at you. Be careful what you hand them. hehe

At 24 months, I found a light spank on the butt get their attention to stop rolling. I wouldn't suggest that at 7 months. How do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?
My nephew has been the same since he was 6 months old and still does it now and he's two... the worst thing is now if he escapes he can run away!

Change him on the floor and try to distract him by making him laugh and trust me you will learn to dress/change him REALLY quickly before he has time to get up to much mischief... You will also learn you can dress them when they are laying in all kinds of positions! :-)

Good luck... it will get alot easier I promiseHow do you change a diaper when baby wont stay still?

LOL it's not that bad! I used to care for elderly people who had Alzheimer's. Some couldn't control their bowels, so they wore diapers. After doing that, baby diapers are no biggie! ;)

It depends on the guy. You should have asked this question in premarital counseling and already satisfied with the answer long before the actual practice of it. My husband and I take turns. But his dad, my dad, and my grandfather never changed a single diaper. My mom wrote in my babybook: %26quot;At age 18 months, she is finally starting to warm up to Daddy.%26quot; Vs. My husband and I have always been equally close to our baby, from day one. Umm....as often as is necessary. Helpful bit of advice (read this in some magazine sometime ago): If you feel like gagging when changing the diaper, smile!! No really, smile. When you smile, your gag reflex doesn't work, and so you don't actually gag.

Now that he goes to work and I stay home, I do most of the changing, and he will once in a while give me a break (although not as often as I used to give him breaks).

I think that a man should have to change a diaper. If the man works hard all day long then maybe just the diaper before bedtime, but if it is his day off then he can change a couple of more. I am married to a man who works long hours and he only changes a diaper or two on Sundays, but then again that is because I get their butts cleaner than he does. But I say at least one a day, also gives him a chance to bond with his kid ( if it is his), even though it may not be pleasent all the time. How do i change a diaper?

Im 13 and i babysit a lot, but only kids that are potty trained. but now i am babysitting a 2 year old on monday night, and i need to change its diaper. The child is a boy, if that makes a difference. How do i change a diaper?
It would take to long to explain - go to U-Tube -there are lots of proper demonstrations on there. If you've never changed a diaper, you should really be shown by the boys mum. There are delicate bits on boys to clean up too, which for a 13 year old can be a bit yukee, but also a giggle! Good luck! Tell us how you got on.How do i change a diaper?
You should ask the child's mother to show you how she does it. Some babies will squirm or are use to a certain way there mother does it. I'm sure she will be happy to show you :)How do i change a diaper?
If you don't know how to change a diaper then you shouldn't be babysitting infants in diapers. You should never have accepted the babysitting job unless you knew how to do it. I suggest you go to the library and get some books on diapering babies or ask your mother.

  • How to change a diaper on an airplane?

How is this done? I didn't check if they have changing tables in the bathrooms the last time I was on a plane. Any other way besides on the seat and hope the baby doesn't roll off?How to change a diaper on an airplane?
If the airplane has a changing table in the bathroom, you're all set. If it doesn't, you've got two options: using the closed toilet seat in the cramped bathroom as a changing table, or standing up and turning your airplane seat into a changing area. See our checklist of questions to ask your airline for more information about baby-friendly airline services and facilities.

If your child has a badly soiled diaper, your only option is to squeeze into the tiny airplane bathroom. It's a good idea to undress your baby down to the diaper at your seat so you won't be wrestling his clothes off in the cramped space. Once you're inside, assemble your supplies ?diaper, wipes, and disposal bag ?next to the sink and layer some paper towels or a changing pad on the closed toilet seat. Place your child on the seat, whip off the dirty diaper, stick it in an airsick bag or plastic bag, and dispose of it in the garbage. Speed is important here since your child could wriggle off the tiny toilet seat. Rediaper your baby and finish dressing him when you're back in your seat.

If you're flying with relatives or friends seated next to you, it may be okay to change a wet diaper on your own seat. If you think you'll try this technique, pack a waterproof lining or small blanket in your diaper bag and use it to protect the seat upholstery. Once again, speed is essential ?especially for your traveling companion's sake. Dispose of the dirty diaper in your airsick bag. Once your baby is diapered and dressed, you can put the bag in the bathroom garbage. Don't ask a flight attendant to dispose of your baby's dirty diaper ?the Food and Drug Administration prohibits attendants from handling garbage of any kind while serving food. How to change a diaper on an airplane?
on your lap. I've done this a few times in a pinch. I have heard they have changing tables in bathrooms on airplanes, but I never go in to check. Or (if the flight isn't too long) in the airport bathroom before and after the flight. How to change a diaper on an airplane?
I have done it two different ways.

First, if the seat belt light is on, I have done it in my lap. Not recommended for 2 diapers. Just put baby lengthwise across lap and change as normal, but easier if you have someone traveling with you so you can hold and the can attach the diaper.

Second is to do to the back of the plane by the bathrooms and put your changing pad on the ground and do it there. It is easier, but still a little challenging. People really don't seem to mind this.

Also, if you are flying during a non peak time request a infant block, and that way if there are any empty seats you can have one for free and keep the little in their car seat during the flight. Otherwise I recommend gate checking the car seat, they get less abused that way.

Enjoy your flight. How to change a diaper on an airplane?
On your lap i guessHow to change a diaper on an airplane?
Wow, great question. I've never run into this situation or question before. I've never looked but I'm thinking those tiny little bathrooms can't possibly have changing tables. There's barely room in there for me to do what I've got to do, let alone try to change a baby! I'm sure other passengers will be offended, but they'll just have to get over it. Poop happens...worst case scenario, I'd rather offend a few uptight passengers then let my baby stay in a dirty diaper for an hour. How to change a diaper on an airplane?
There are changing tables in airplanes - although they are small.

If it's number one, your husband can hold the baby on his lap while you change the baby.......if its number 2 you are better off going to the laboratory.

Rest assure there are changing tables!

(Let me be more specific- it depends on the airplane you are on.) All international flights and most domestic flights more than 4 hours have changing tables - the small puddle jumpers might not have a laboratory at all. Simply change the baby before and after you get on the plane.

Best of luck! How to change a diaper on an airplane?
i agree i am a pro at changing my kids on my lap another idea kneel on the floor and put the baby on the seat in front of you other passangers might not be pleased but whatever for them you could also ask the sturtist maybe she can show you some where a little more discreetHow to change a diaper on an airplane?
they have changing tables in the bathroom. it's not like in public bathrooms (in airplanes everything is tight) but I've done it before. don't worry, you can do it.How to change a diaper on an airplane?
The last time I was on a plane I worried about the same thing with my daughter. I hoped and prayed I just wouldn't have to find out but no such luck as she ended up poopie on the plane. I took her to the bathroom, not knowing what to expect and low and behold there actually was a changing table built in above the toilet. It was a little cramped but worked out ok. I am not sure if all planes have this feature but surely they wouldn't book you on a flight where the plane didn't have one if they know you are traveling with a baby. Good luck!!

I don't think so - a hospital is not a free daycare center. If you want trained caregivers, take her to a real daycare and pay like the rest of us.Why do a male becomes a pediatric when they have no idea how to change a diaper?
    Two things

    1) Don't WASTE a doctors time changing your kids diaper!!!

    2) People who can't write a complete sentence shouldn't have kids. Why do a male becomes a pediatric when they have no idea how to change a diaper?
Well, he's a doctor, not a babysitter. I'm sure he isn't even the one who changed the diaper - a nurse or another staff member would have done it.Why do a male becomes a pediatric when they have no idea how to change a diaper?
Oh my god you are such a horrable mom, you ledt your child in the hospital alone. Why was CPS not called? You make me sick!!Why do a male becomes a pediatric when they have no idea how to change a diaper?
    1. If you really worked for a hospital, the staff would have chipped in time for you to take off and be with your child.

    2. If you really do work in a hospital, you would know that doctors do not change diapers. That's what RNs, LPNs, and UA's do.

How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?

or do i change every time the baby pee even just once? How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
i change my daughters diaper routinely every 2 hours before she eats. i will also check it in between feedings, and if she is wet or has gone poop, i'll change it again.

i figure if she is clean and dry, chances are she'll be happier. and a happy baby makes for a happy mom.How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
I usually go by how wet the diaper is!

When the diaper gets wet (pampers diapers) it gets squishy lol. (hopefully you know what I mean).

If it's just a tad %26quot;squishy%26quot; then I'll leave her in it as it's absorbed to the bottom of the diaper, but if it's big and full I'll change it right away. Or even medium full. I don't know it's hard to explain.

But, I usually change it all the time and put a lot of vaseline on her bottom. How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
mine gets changed when you can notice its been pee'd in and is a bit 'squishy'. It probably averages out to 3-4 hourly at most, when you take sleeps into account.

I don't change at the first sign of a tiny pee, I'll leave it until its a little bit wetter as they are designed that way and no my son does not get rashes, only if he's doing his yucky teething poops.

Changing every hour at the first tiny little pee is a total waste of time and money. If you want to change the baby that often you may as well use cloth because you'd be throwing away good money on all the disposables you'd be wasting. Good quality dispsoables are designed to draw away the moisture from the skin so they can be left for a couple of hours, plus mine stays in one diaper for 12hours thru the night so he can stay in one for 3-4 hours during the day.How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
you should change the baby every time you notice they have pottyed. Dipper rash sucks for both of you.How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
depends on the age of the baby and how many feeds it has but the simple answer is CHANGE IT WHEN ITS WET. Pretty simple. Check it regularly! How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
Yes, change the diaper, even if it's just been peed in once. Not only will you get a more accurate count of wet diapers, but your little one is less likely to get a rash. Besides, would you like to sit in your own pee? Even just a little bit?How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
um yes if the baby pees you change them! How many times does the baby need to pee before i change the diaper?
a baby pretty much pee's all day long! If you are using a named disposal brand like Pampers or Huggies they lock in the wet and say they can last upto 24 hours!! I change my newborns nappy every time i feed him so roughly every 4 hours. It might not need changing but i dont want my little man to get nappy rash.

If you are using the old style terry towelling clothes then i would say they need changing frequently to stop chaffing and nappy rash.

Whats the best way to change a diaper?

I am going to babysit some boys this weekend one is 9 and one is 14. The 9 year old has accidents all the time and the 14 year old has severe bedwetting. They both have to wear diapers. I was wondering how to change them and what would be the best diapers?Whats the best way to change a diaper?

ask ur momWhats the best way to change a diaper?
You know Y!A has a parenting and pregnancy section right? You might get some better responses there. Its just a suggestion. In your case I think if they are both 9 and 14 they both should be old enough to change without your supervision.

And if for some obscure reason that is required - a) you better ask for a raise and b) have their parents show you the correct way to do it.Whats the best way to change a diaper?
the easiest way is the right way.

i would say not to change it at all, its theyre falt for shitting themselfs, just let the poo dry and use it as a nice fertilizer to moisurize the buttox area near thoid streetWhats the best way to change a diaper?
ok u want to be completely ready before you do this ummmmm get your diaper out and unfolded the right way so that as soon as you pull out the dirty one then u can just slip it under the baby............ when you first open the diaper take the front of the diaper and wipe the kid with it then tuck it under so that the outside of the diaper is under the kid remember to have the baby wipe ready and wipe the kid when your done just use a fresh wipe to go over it the best diapers. most people say that they are Hughie's or pampers but honestly i have tried every diaper brand i can get my hands on and Hughie's and pampers are a waste of money the ncvs brand ones are cheap and they honestly they work better than anything i have tried .... btw just a piece of advice peeing in the bed til that age has something behind it maybe insecurity's, something wrong with their parents idk try to figure it out and im sure you'll get paid extra if u find a way to get through to them and teach them to use a toilet good luck i hope this helpedWhats the best way to change a diaper?
depends for the 14 year old make sure it is the right size look for sizeses and a good price so you dont have to pay over priced and use up all your money and for the 9 year old...some goodnights and good mornings wipe of the exsses poop or pee and then spray

there *** with a shower head with cold water lay them down

wipe them dry and pull up on the ankles slide the diaper under neeth

put down the leg gently and make sure the sticky tabs are at the back of the diaper and unstick the tab and pull up to the side of the whist repeat from the other side also so both sticky tabs are on the diaper little tight so they dont fall off so easy.....

wipe front to back on a boy not back to frontWhats the best way to change a diaper?
... there old enough cant they change them themselves...

    i know one way.

1 pull out your magic wand and say bibbity boppity boo. and the diapers will turn into a ham and cheese sandwich or somthing LOL

Press on the green circle until it becomes pink, not all the way red..then move on to the other green circle and press the stylus against it until it turns pink (darkish pink). Keep this up and you'll pass that challenge. You don't want it to turn all the way red (you'll lose).

You cant..unless you hold his hands.

But in a parenting mag I read you are supoposed to allow your child to do things like that, cause they are learning and it pleases them. It's an excitment just like it would be if we touched ourselves just not as much as one cause we already know what we're doing :/How can I keep my 1 year old to stop scratching his genitals when I change his diaper?
I have two boys there is NO WAY to stop this unfortunantly but you can push his hand away and say not now hold on then try to distact him that does kinda work. A LITTLE ADVISE when they get older and continue to do that (case they do believe me) just tell them to do it ONLY in their room or the bathroom thats what experts say to do. Dont tell him its naughty or gross cause that can make him ashamed of it.How can I keep my 1 year old to stop scratching his genitals when I change his diaper?
it's a new toy, boys learn young. I couldn't imagine what it feels like have something hanging out between my legs, personally I think it would be extremely irritating myself. let him play he'll get over it. He doesn't know what he's doing, it isn't perverted in any way

How to change a disposable diaper?

i have to make a written presentation on how to change a diaper. it includes an intro, objective, background, content, summary, and conclusion. any input is greatly appreciated. i have no idea where to startHow to change a disposable diaper?
Start with a need...to draw them in. Discuss cuteness of babies or whatever but add to that the normal functions of poopage. Then go into diapers and how they conveniently catch and contain the poop. You can discuss various methods of poop control - for instance, many European countries toilet train FAST bcz diapers are not as absorbent. Some moms practice elimination training which allows the kid to run around with no diaper while mom makes frequent treks to the potty with the kid to try and 'catch' the kid in peeing/pooping action...not my cup of tea but some swear by it. Discuss convenience etc but you should also touch upon the fact that they are not too biodegradable - so they can flood a landfill (although some companies are making more earth friendly diapers.)How to change a disposable diaper?
Not sure how you're going to stretch this into an essay, but try these.

How can I get my 10 month old to sit still while I change her diaper\clothes?

She used to be so good at sitting still when I change her, but we dont have a changing table anymore and when I change her on the bed\floor\couch she will try SO HARD to get loose. I literally have to have my boyfriend hold down her arms sometimes!

I try giving her something to distract her but nothing works. How can I get my 10 month old to sit still while I change her diaper\clothes?
Cell phones work great for distraction, video even better. Before changing her diaper pretend that you're changing diaper on her favorite toy. When changing, stay/sit on her side and use one hand technique - look at some changingbuddy videos (pillow is for another reason). This way she won't be able to wiggle too much. Stay calm and be the one who is in charge. Many parents when changing on a floor would gently place one leg on a toddler. I wouldn't recommend it because there are many other ways to have your toddler to cooperate with you.

Good luck! How can I get my 10 month old to sit still while I change her diaper\clothes?
hang a mirror over the changing table so they can look at themselves and you and give them a toy. Get them engaged these other things before you start changing and then keep them engaged by talking to them and being silly with them throughout. If they keep trying to get up, tell them no and put them back in the spot. Give the toy back and try again. Do not be afraid to say no, they understand more than people like to believe. Babies like to fuss at that age and see if they can get away from you. There is too much going on to be stuck on a stupid table!!! Luckily, and unfortunately, it doesn't last for long :PHow can I get my 10 month old to sit still while I change her diaper\clothes?

He just outright refuses to change a diaper or do anything with the baby for that fact until I get to the point of almost exploding and yelling at him then he will get off his dead a$$ and do something. but it has to come down to the point of where I'm am so pi$$ed that I am almost ready to throw something at him before he even offers any help

And the few times that he has changed our baby's diaper he puts it on wrong, and they end up leaking or something so I end up having to do it over again.

He wasn't this way with our first son so I don't understand why he is this way now. but instead of making a scene or anything I normally just end up doing everything myself. How many wives have husbands that do not know how to change a diaper?

There are many men who are like you, just remember that you are da' man!! You do not barf over a baby's diaper, you are strong, tuff!! P.S.-My father got accustomed to changing newborn diapers and when the baby grew older, she tried to wriggle off the table and play with everything she could get her hands on, and he didn't know how to handle her. Don't worry, you'll catch on after the baby is born. This is your first child, so you have a reason for not knowing how to change a diaper. But if you're not a pro by the time your baby is a few months old, your wife had better start cracking the whip! =)
