How do you know when to change diaper sizes?

My daughter is a month old, and she's still in newborns. She's a really tall baby (23 inches) and a little over 9 pounds. I'm just wondering when to switch her into size 1 diapers.

Thanks! How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
Well for my son I know it's time because his butt crack starts to hang out over the top of the diaper lol... They just start to seem tight on them...

And another huge thing is they start to leak...

My son usually has to change a size up even before he hits the weight on the box because he's really tall and has got a big bone structure, very broad shoulders and hips... So they get short on him (hence the butt crack starting to show). How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
it usually goes by weight.

So just look on the packages. I love huggiesHow do you know when to change diaper sizes?
Usually, the package will tell you a weight limit on the diapers. But, if it's the wrong size, they will stop being effective and start leaking more. That's a major indicator. How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
depends on their weight.

my son is 15 lbs 25 in and wearing size 2.How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
Well, you can always follow the weight recommendations on the diapers. Personally, I just look to see that they are fitting, nothing is leaking out, and it seems to be comfortable. Since the bigger sizes cost more per diaper, I like keeping them in the smaller sizes until necessary to change.

I also have bought diapers in the next size up (after all, it's a sure bet they're going to grow) and if I wonder if it's time to change sizes, I just try her out in the next size up and see how well it fits. How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
I never went by the weight guidelines. They have never been accurate for me. Instead I checked for snugness of the diaper and leakage. If they started appearing too tight or if they started leaking then I moved up a size. How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
it usually says the weight on the nappy boxes/packaging

however, i always keep the next size up in the cupboard, cause one day my son had a growth spurt and fit his nappies one night and then the next day they were too tight!! doesnt hurt to stock up on more just in case, that way you can always pull one out and put it on ya lil bubba and see if they fitHow do you know when to change diaper sizes?
My guy is 4months old and about 17lbs..hes in size 3..he can still fit in 2 but barely!..I just go by the weight on the package..(the doctor isnt worried about his size because he is 27 1/2in long already)How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
You can tell by the weight listed on the box. The first time we needed to go up a size, it didn't even occur to me until my daughter soaked through one night! How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
Different diaper brands size differently then others. I have nine smaller siblings and they all used different brand diapers because of the obvious sensitive baby skin.... If she starts to get a rash where her leg meets her torso, she busts out of them ( they come unbuckled ) or she starts leaking badly then you should start thinking about changing her diaper size. when the current size no longer catches all the urine you know she's ready for the next size up.How do you know when to change diaper sizes?
We changed up sizes when the diapers started to leak more frequently. Once DS was leaking 3-4 times a day we moved up. Our DS is also a tall baby, and we noticed the diapers fitted more comfortably if they went above his bellybutton -maybe this could be a good way of telling when to change?
