How do you know when to change diaper size?

This is probably a really stupid question.

Right now my son is 8 weeks and 11 pounds.

He still fits into most of his newborn clothes.

Newborn diapers fit-- but are somewhat snug.

Size 1 diapers are huge!

Should I just put him in the 1s anyway? How do you know when to change diaper size?
Pampers has a size 1-2 diaper that I had to use for my daughter for a couple months. you can buy them at sam's club or online at diapers.com

i don't know of any retailers that sell 1-2 anymore.

I had this exact same dilemma. There is a huge difference in pampers newborns and pampers 1's. I then found out that Huggies newborns are actually slightly larger than pampers newborns so I used those until they got snug on him and then bam the size 1's fit perfectly. He didn't stay in size 1's long tho surprisingly, I thought it would take forever for him to get into 1's but honestly once they get em, they grow quick, my son has been in 2's for a few weeks now and I'm seriously considering buying 3's. Better a little big than a little small. He is currentlly 3 months. Hope this helps hon.How do you know when to change diaper size?
I would keep him in newborn diapers for another week and try again. Although newborn diapers say they go up to 10lbs, he may be long and thin. Pampers makes a diaper in between sizes, I can't remember if it is between newborn and 1, or between 1 and 2. I'd check into it and see. Somehow I remember there being one that went up to 12lbs.How do you know when to change diaper size?
i would do what the other answerer said, wait a bit, probably until they are a bit more than snug, then try the size ones. it also depends on the brand of diapers as well, as different brands vary. my son is still in a size 3 diaper at 18 mos. b/c he is so slender that the 4's all but fall off of him.How do you know when to change diaper size?
Better too big than too small, to a degree. I always knew it was time to move up a size when we had two or three %26quot;poopsplosians%26quot; in a row. The size 1 diapers won't be huge for long, and it's better for baby to be comfortable, I'm sure. How do you know when to change diaper size?
YES! You should put them in size 1 asap. I never put newborns on my son, and at the hospital all they put on babies is size 1 anyways, at least at where I gave birth...

even tho size ones are larger you can always make them tighter by putting them on snug on ur babyHow do you know when to change diaper size?
What I did was, I had to overlap the flaps on them. If he doesnt seem uncomfortable in the newborn diapers I wouldnt change them. with the next size up being so big it will leak more often
