i change my daughters diaper routinely every 2 hours before she eats. i will also check it in between feedings, and if she is wet or has gone poop, i'll change it again.

I usually go by how wet the diaper is!
When the diaper gets wet (pampers diapers) it gets squishy lol. (hopefully you know what I mean).
If it's just a tad %26quot;squishy%26quot; then I'll leave her in it as it's absorbed to the bottom of the diaper, but if it's big and full I'll change it right away. Or even medium full. I don't know it's hard to explain.

mine gets changed when you can notice its been pee'd in and is a bit 'squishy'. It probably averages out to 3-4 hourly at most, when you take sleeps into account.
I don't change at the first sign of a tiny pee, I'll leave it until its a little bit wetter as they are designed that way and no my son does not get rashes, only if he's doing his yucky teething poops.
Changing every hour at the first tiny little pee is a total waste of time and money. If you want to change the baby that often you may as well use cloth because you'd be throwing away good money on all the disposables you'd be wasting. a baby pretty much pee's all day long! If you are using a named disposal brand like Pampers or Huggies they lock in the wet and say they can last upto 24 hours!! I change my newborns nappy every time i feed him so roughly every 4 hours. It might not need changing but i dont want my little man to get nappy rash.
If you are using the old style terry towelling clothes then i would say they need changing frequently to stop chaffing and nappy rash.
