How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?

I have an 8month old girl who just will not lay still during the process, so she ends up making quite a mess. If I try to hold her still or tell her no, or stop, she just screams. Any ideas how I can make this daily activity less of a battle of wills? How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
thank god you have a girl, my son did that and would pee on me !!! i give him a toy to distract him and sing songs and make faces and basically make a fool of myself for the 2 minutes i need to get a clean diaper on him. make crazy sounds, put her pants on your head, sing a song.... the crazier the better :) good luckHow can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
My aunt recommended giving my daughter a small toy to hold onto - something that is just for diaper changes. It seems to help some. I also found that she just had an aversion to the changing table. I change her in her crib (as long as there's no poop) and that seems to help some too. My daughter is considerably less mobile than yours probably is though! How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
I would stop saying %26quot;no%26quot; and %26quot;stop%26quot;, and try telling her what she can do. Saying %26quot;stop%26quot; does no good...she doesn't know what to do after that. %26quot;Feet up%26quot; is what I've always taught the daycare kids and my own daughter and my niece. That can be followed by %26quot;Touch your toes%26quot; once her feet are up and that keeps her hands out of the way.Just hold her legs and do it. 1 hand to hold her legs up until she learns and 1 to change the diaper. Get the new one open and under her before you take off the old one. Feet up (and hold). Undo and take off the old one while holding her butt off the new one until you clean it. %26quot;Feet down%26quot; (let her do it so she feels good) Fasten new one. Done. When she gets older, let her %26quot;sit down%26quot; and %26quot;Stand up%26quot; and %26quot;pull down / up your pants%26quot;, etc.How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
I have the same problem. I know my son loves the remote control so i give that to him and he will stay still for a little bit. you should just try and get some diaper pull ups it makes it easier. How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
I have this problem too w/my son and he's now 13 months. I always give him something to keep his hands occupied %26amp; try to make sure it's something he's interested in or some new household object that he's never seen before. This is not always easy, however. I am now finding that singing to him helps too. Basically, entertaining him while changing him helps to keep him more settled during the diaper changes. Good luck! How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
Hang pictures on the ceiling for her to look at. Change them frequently. Hang things on the wall to look at (out of reach), and change those frequently too. Do as the other person suggested and give her a toy to play with.

My little guy screams as soon as his back hits the changing table whenever he has a dirty diaper. Not wet ones, just dirty.

I undress him, and cover him in kisses and sing to him to get him to stop crying, keep singing while I get my clean diaper, wipes and open the diaper pail. Another round of kisses, pick up the song again, and undo the diaper. Usually by then he's suitably soothed that I can at least get him cleaned up before he wiggles.

I've become a master of putting a diaper on my son's exposed butt, tucking it down between his legs and fastening the tabs down to where I can't see them all one-handed because my other hand is keeping my son from crawling off the end of the table!

Just stick to it, try everything you can, no matter how silly it sounds, you'll be a pro in no-time!How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
My son is the same way and it is getting worse the older he gets. I give him a toy to occupy him, and just talk to him or tickle his belly, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am hoping that he will soon grow out of it. Good Luck. How can I teach my baby not to wriggle and kick during a diaper change?
my daughter is horrible about that too and she's only 4 months!! but i just clap my hands lightly to get her attention on me and then i sing songs and talk to her. she likes the feeling of not having a diaper on so i'll let her be free and naked for just a QUICK minute lol and then put the diaper on her. it's difficult but it works. try giving her a toy or something else that she likes. my daughter likes to hang on to a clean burp rag and she holds it and chews on it lol so try to find something she likes and give it to her only at diaper changes so she doest get bored with it! good luck :)
