Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming

I have a 1 1/2 year old that just screams and kicks when you go to change her diaper or wipe her face. Not every single time - but just about. I try distraction, singing...so frustrated...my son never really fussed about this so I'm lost. Any ideas?Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming

You just need to find a better distraction. Change her in a different place. Get her interested in a toy before you change her. I know its frustrating but its just a phase and it will pass. All four of my kids went through this phase. Just have everything you need handy to make the change as quickly as possible. Most kids don't like the face wiping, just sneak in and get it done before she knows whats happening. Good luck :)Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
nothing u can really do. my 2 kids went through that stage also, they grow out of it quick.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
just get it done as quick as possible. be firm and business like. sometimes trying to placate them makes it worse because they realize their behavior is bothering you so they do it more. just ignore their ranting and raving and just get it done like it's no big deal.

i used to work in a church nursery so i ran across all kinds and found this is the best way to handle it.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
include your child in the changeing and the cleaning.

at that age my daughter wanted to start showing her independance. cleaning her face i would pass her the cloth and let her do it first, need be get a portable mirror so they can see the progress in cleaning their face.

for diaper changeing have her hold the wipe till you need it to use, or see if she will help, as independant children get older, (even at a year old) they want to start doing things for themselfs, you might also want to try a potty every so often if shes expressing indipendance,(provided she can walk) and there have been children who were potty trained by a year old, just dont presure her into it, it will be more of just lettign her try indipendance, not that hard core ok its time you learn to go on the potty stuff. just let her go at her own time and see if maybe shes just ready right now.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
try letting them help you... give her the wipe to clean her own face... and when its time to change the diaper... let her hold the diaper stuff... and make a game out of it... at this age they are testing their Independence... sucks i know... but letting them help does make some of a difference... even if its not perfect...Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
I saw this on youtube. Some crazy japanese people figured that if you talk a small amount of water in your mouth, dont swallow, make your lips like you would if your going to pucker or take in a straw, and suck in air. the modulating high and low pitches instantly grabs their attention. try the youtube search, and you will see.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
Does she have an inside voice? Tell her to use her words, and be calm. Don't let her scream without being told to stop. Eventually, she will.

Bribe her with going outside to the swing or helping you give the dog a bath or some other fun activity.

You might wash your face and give her a washcloth and play peek-a-boo. Tell her a big girl washes her face.

Try to make a game of every thing-except minding for her safety. Have a different voice/attitude for that one.

Good luck.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
I have a tub of toys on the diaper changing station, located at his head. I offer one, then another, and then another. I'm usually done by this time.

As for face washing...sorry, can't help you. I don't know any children that like to have their faces washed. I've tried to turn it into a game w/ Noah...sort of works but it's not a perfect solution.Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
Go to the PullUps/Pampers trainers (EasyUps) that are label absorbent pants. They are about as absorbent as diapers and your child won't have to lay down for a change unless it's a poop. It's really a stress saver for you - just remember to ditch them when it's time to potty train. I used to really dread diaper time, but since the Easy Ups just pull up like pants it's much easier...

As far as wiping her face - she'll get over that is all I know to tell you. It's no fun but you have to wipe her face...Any suggestions on how to get a fussy todler to allow you to change a diaper and wipe their face w/o screaming
Give her a dum dum or pack of fruit snacks and tell her to behave or she can kick, scream and hollier in time out.
