How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?

I have told her to change her every couple of hours, according to my son he is the one telling her that his sister needs a diaper change.she keeps telling me that her diaper rash is caused by her teething, but over the weekend when she is with me i clear it up.then as soon as i take her back she gets a rash again.i am not sure that teething can cause a diaper rash that bad.Can it.How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
OK... this is not hard at all. Trust me I'm a nanny.

yes, a small rash may occur while teething, but if it clears up during the wkend that is not the real problem. Its not fair to the child to sit in a diaper rash cause the babysitter is lame.

So the babysitter is obviously not changing the diaper, that is the very least of your worries, what else is she doing or not doing?? and if she were changing the child and the problem persisted, she would be showing concern.

Putting up a nanny cam is another option. Good choice if you don't want to fire her right away.

She needs to be shown to the door. Don't trust her.How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
Teething can cause a rash but not huge ones or really bad ones. but depending on your sitters age maybe its not a good idea for her to be watching your child and you should find another sitter if thats not possible for whatever reason then deal with it. cause its not worth beating it into her head if she makes excusses or doesnt seem to care. Or simply tell her (if you paying her) that you will doc her pay a bit if this continues) if your not paying her then as i said deal with it cause obviously she has too! or simple tske her out of there duhHow can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
My son never had diaper rash while teething (not yet anyway). It sounds like you need a new sitter. If she can't change a diaper then she doesn't need to be watching your kids. How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
Teething does not cause diaper rashes if the diaper is being changed properly.

(Urine can become more alkaline and lead to more irritation and breakdown of skin when babies are teething)

I would now question her judgment if she is making these false claims. Is there any other babysitter you can find for your kids?

If you can clear the rash up when they are not at the babysitter obviously she is doing something wrong.

Perhaps print out some information on teething/diaper rashes and show her.How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?

That's about as clear as it gets.

I don't have a source to answer this question with, but my pediatrician has told me that teething can cause a fever and diharrea, and diarrhea can lead to the diaper rash. My son had the same problem for a while. However, when I knew he was teething I would always put desitin on his bottom during diaper changes and I would change his diaper more frequently. Tell her if she thinks the baby is getting it from teething then she should still change her more often! Also, suggest that she put some cream on as often as possible for protection. Saying that the baby is teething is not a good excuse for the rash if it is clearing up when she is with you.How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
Teething can cause a diaper rash and maybe she is teething, but if you feel your child isn't changed enough then don't keep her there. Have a talk and just say, %26quot;I don't like hearing that my son has to tell you to change my daughters diaper. I really don't like seeing that when my child is with me she doesn't have a rash.%26quot; %26quot;You are not changing her enough., you need to change her more or you are done.%26quot; You get no more chances.%26quot; If it bothers her so be it. It's your child and you don't have to put up with this.

Really though it's not your sons job to worry about the changings. She is paid to, It's part of her job to change her. She isn't paid to have your son come and go my sister needs to be changed. It sounds like your son is the one watching her and not the sitter.

But please don't risk your child just because you need a sitter. There are a lot of people probably willing to sit for you. So if you really do feel she isn't changed enough and you don't believe it's a rash. then don't have her sit for your kids. How can i make myself any clearer to my sitter about changing my 18mth olds diaper frequently?
teething can cause a diaper rash as well as fevers however, they are not bad diaper rashes, they are typically small and clear up during the weekend.

If your son is the one telling the sitter that she should change the babies diaper i think you should start looking for another diaper.

A similar situation happened to my cousin, her daughter was suffering from really bad diaper rashes so she set up a nanny cam and found that the sitter wouldn't change the baby's diaper but once before she got home; she was on the phone and the computer all day.

If your sitter is being this negligible now.. you can just imagine when your child is older and requires even more attention as s/he starts to walk and crawl and climb.

I honestly would start looking for a different sitter, especially if you have already addressed the diaper changing issue.

Just an idea for you without having to invest in a nanny cam-- count how many diapers are in the pack or diaper bag, etc. before you take off (privately of course). Compare and see how many are left when you pick up your baby. Unless your sitter is throwing out diapers that are clean you'll have a good idea of how often your baby is getting her diaper changed. I doubt the sitter would go to the trouble of tossing good/unused diapers to keep from getting caught if she's so lazy that she's not even changing your baby. As with anything, if you have any doubts about the caregiver you need to change sitters. It's just NOT worth the chance your baby may come to some harm. Not changing diapers is neglect.
