Here is my problem that I am having my daughter just turned 4 in December and she still wears diapers(please read the entire question before you judge) She is a special needs child is a little slower than most kids her age and she goes to a special school. She knows when she has pooped in her diaper she will ask me to change her and she will ask to be changed when she feels that her diaper is to wet. She has also been diagnosed with a anxiety disorder. I am just wondering if anyone else has a special needs child and how they over came the potty training dielma that I am in. I am really getting tired of changing diapers because with her in diapers I am changing 4 kids with diapers everyday three of the kids are mine and one of the babies is my neice so if I could take care of one in diapers that would be nice so I am open to any advice please help and thank you for reading my question. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I would let her take the lead. You can ask her if she wants to go to the bathroom, but don't make a big deal out of the whole thing.
You know her temperment better than I, but I would be worried that a reward system would give her too much anxiety. She may think not getting reward = bad.
You also may find when you potty train the next oldest child she will naturally just learn along with him/her.
Another thought is to take her with the bathroom with you and let her sit on a potty while you sit on the toilet.

Mine wasn't special needs but I had a hard time with her. What I did was we went to Wal Mart. We looked at all the pretty %26quot;Big Girl%26quot; panties. Then we came to the understanding that if she wet or pooped in them, she had to wear a diaper, not her pretty pretty panties. She didn't have very many accidents after a time or 2. AND make sure you buy those yucky cheap diapers that don't pull the pee away from them. They are cold and just not nice. Also, take her to the potty every 2 hours. Maybe try a game. Put a cherrio in the toilet and tell her to sit down and aim. Just a thought. I would also bring her in with you everytime you need to use the restroom. Maybe this will help make her want to do it on her own.How can I get my daughter to use the bathroom like a big girl?
Have patience. It takes kids with special needs longer to develop this habit. Try taking her to the bathroom with you so she can see what you're doing and how you would like her to do.

My friend has special child and it took time for her too, but she just let her daughter go to the bathroom with her, and she finally caught on.
