Changing a newborn girls diaper?

OK... I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with a little girl... our FIRST and ONLY girl. We currently have 2 boys. I am very experienced with boys, but kinda nervous and clueless with a little girl. We just moved so are about 3000 miles from family and don't really know anyone yet. I thought having the same parts I would kinda know, but my mom, my sister, my MIL, are all giving me advice as far as how to change diapers without giving her a infection or whatever. The more I hear the more nervous I get!! I know %26quot;front to back%26quot; but does anyone else have any tips or advice for handling little girls either with bathing or diaper changing?! If there was an infection how would I tell? Thank you in advance for any tips or helpful information!!Changing a newborn girls diaper?
First, congratulations!

Now, as far as diaper changes, it's no biggie. Wipe front to back, and have a clean diaper ready to slide under her as soon as you take away the old diaper. (I usually fold down the old diaper so that she's sitting on the front of the dirty one while I wipe her.)

The biggest challenge will be getting all the poop out of the folds.

For bathing, wash downward ONCE down each of the three %26quot;creases%26quot; between the legs (the %26quot;main%26quot; crease, and the crease on either side of the main one.)

If there's an infection, the area will be very red, like a rash, possibly tinged with yellowish spots if it's really bad. You won't have to worry about that though, as long as you change poopy diapers as soon as possible, and don't let the really wet diapers stay on her too long. Although, today's diapers are so absorbant, don't feel like you have to change her wet diapers more than every 2 hours or so. Also, if you can, try to leave the clean diaper a little loose so that air can circulate. DO NOT use powder to keep her dry - that can cause a respiratory problem if she breathes it in.

Little girls are so much easier than little boys - if they pee during changes they wet themselves, not you, and they don't like it so it doesn't happen too often.Changing a newborn girls diaper?
For one, it will come to you, trust me. Always wipe front to back to keep from her getting a UTI. Bathe with soapy water to clean the vagina, never apply soap directly to the vagina as she might have a reaction to it.

There really isn't much to it, other than you won't have to duck and dodge or wear safety goggles with girls, LOLChanging a newborn girls diaper?
When you have your little girl, the nurses in the hospital will tell you all about it and you can ask them all kinds of questions. I think that would be the best.Changing a newborn girls diaper?
They reccomend that you wipe from front to back but it's almost impossible to do that and still get all the poop. You just want to make sure that you get all the poop out of her. That will be the best way to keep her form getting any infection.

Just don't stress over it too much, when you have to change her for the first time you won;t even think about which way you are supposed to wipe just that you got it all.Changing a newborn girls diaper?
Yes front to back and gently inside the lips. Sometimes in new born girls there is a little blood from the hormones like a baby period but onlt a little spotting. At least yo don't have to worry about them peeing inyour face, girls I place a towle under them when changing just incase they pee.Changing a newborn girls diaper?
Be gentle....yes front to back is the most effictive way to avoid infection or anything else for that matter. She is your baby....you will figure it out. We all do. I think it's hard to give specifics. It's not like this is your first baby. They are all small and delicate - but yours. You will be fine - just find a good pediatrician,Changing a newborn girls diaper?
RELAX! You will do just fine. You will instinctively know what to do when you see that little girl. When you are in the hospital and if you are still nervous, ask a nurse to help you. That's what they are there for. The main thing is just to relax, try not to worry or stress over that. You are an experienced mom you will do just fine. Yes, wipe front to back, believe me you will know if an infection occurs, usually it will start like diaper rash, red and irritated. But don't worry about that now, if you notice any red or irritation, just call your pediatrician, they will tell you if it is something to worry about or not. Everything will be ok and you will enjoy having your daughter. Having both boys and girls, in my opinion, changing and bathing girls is so much easier than boys. Less wrinkles to clean out. So, like I said before, RELAX! You will do just fine. By the way, congratulations on the newest addition arriving soon!Changing a newborn girls diaper?
Well, I have a newborn baby girl. She's a little more than a month now. I was very nervous in the begining also, but it's mother's instinct. But just for advice, always do front to back, but also to the sides. Poop is very tricky on a lilttle girl. And also gently inside her lips. When you're doing this, remember to get a clean wipe, or an area with no poop on it. And yes, do put a towel or something absorbant underneath her. Just like boys, girls also do pee when changing them. It's the coldness of the air, or the wipe that causes it. But don't stress about it, it'll come to you. And if anything, ask a nurse to demonstrate on how to do it properly. Good luck, God Bless, and Congrats!!Changing a newborn girls diaper?
when you're done cleaning her, I would suggest powdering her also.Changing a newborn girls diaper?
Just be sure to get in all the folds. .. I had two boys and then a girl, and I was nervous, too! I didn't want to wipe to hard, I wanted to be sure to get everything. When in doubt, hold her over the sink or tub, her back to your front. Hold her with one arm, across her chest, under her arms (kinda like a football) and rinse her frontside with lukewarm water. You'll know if there's an infection becuase she'll cry in pain when she pees, it could burn. And yes, our little girls have to put up with yeast infections that early on! Good luck :)Changing a newborn girls diaper?
it all comes naturally. i haven't had my baby yet but i do have experience with nephews and nieces. and the only major difference is that you have to wipe the girls from front to back. but other than that there is no real difference
