I always change my daughter right before I feed her, so if you changed your baby before you left the hospital then I would wait till it is time for her to eat again. Unless she has solied herself or her diaper is soggy :)
It will most likely be wet...and possibly soiled newborns have to get all the meconium, a sticky green-black substance made up of bile, mucus and amniotic fluid which builds up her system during pregnancy out of their system. Because of this during the first few days they often are soiled.

Change their diaper when it's wet or soiled... there's no set amount of time for that.
It depends on how long your drive home is, how many days old baby is, the amount of meconium passed at the hospital, etc.
If baby passed all the meconium at the hospital, diaper will probably be just wet.

I would say 3-4 hours. I would just check to make sure he/she is not wet or soiled.
I would say that it will most likely be just wet depending on his/her eating habits at that time.

Check the minute you get home. Most likely will be wet and soiled. Mine would soil quite a few times each day before she slowed down. And then she became quite regular pooping twice a day. if you change a diaper right before you leave the hospital...relax. you won't have to change it again until the baby potties in the diaper...just like any other time you'd change it! you are one of the reasons i am a firm believer that some people need a license to reproduce. you can get a best answer yourself. change the diaper when it's dirty.
